Japanese Cinema Streaming
This is the perfect season to check out the latest and greatest films from Japan! The 56th Chicago International Film Festival is selling tickets to virtual screenings of 3 feature length films by Japanese directors. The festival runs until October 25th. Japan Society’s event, Virtual Cinema: Three by Koji Fukada, celebrates the cinematic career of the Japanese director by offering tickets to stream a selection of his films until November 8th. Our Japan Information & Culture Center will also be offering a free screening of the movie Inland Sea on November 6th as part of Films Across Borders: Stories of Resilience & Hope!

Campaign & Contest Connections
For just a few more days your onigiri photos can help feed children all over the world! Until October 31st TABLE FOR TWO will donate 5 school meals for every photo of a Japanese rice ball that you post to social media using the hashtag #OnigiriAction. You can find more info on their campaign and even a guide to making onigiri at home here. Photography fans should take a look at the Japan National Travel Organization’s Underwater Photo Contest which features diving-themed prizes and runs until November 15th. Finally, JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles is encouraging you to find architecture in everyday objects with a photo contest inspired by the works of Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto that ends November 5th.
