Japan in the News
To celebrate the 2018 Major League Baseball All-Star Game coming to Washington, DC this summer, the Japan Information & Culture Center of the Embassy of Japan, together with the Gordon W. Prange Collection at the University of Maryland Libraries and Japanese baseball specialist Adam Berenbak, is presenting the “A New League: Shared Pastimes and the Story of U.S.-Japan Baseball” exhibition from June 13 to August 10. Featuring baseball-related historical objects and artifacts from Japan, the exhibition will trace the history of the sport in Japan as well as explore the fascinating history of sports exchange and “baseball diplomacy” between Japan and the U.S. – avenues of contact that have fostered friendship, goodwill, and reconciliation between the two nations.
Dick Barnes from The Georgetown Dish attended the opening on June 13, and you can read his review here!
