Introduction to Printmaking
The course will start with clarifying what makes a print different from a drawing or a painting. After this first step, filled with examples and images of different techniques used in printmaking (etching, drypoint, mezzotint, lithography, woodblock, etc), participants will practice 3 of those techniques: monotypes, linocuts and woodcuts.
Tuesdays 6:00-8:00 pm, starting on Jan 19, 2016. Fee: $65 (8 hours).
Printmaking: developing projects
The course will start with the creation of a personal project that could be the intention of understanding and exploring an specific technique more deeply, the choice of focusing on a particular subject or the addition of printmaking to other media the participant is already familiar with. After defining the project and the course of action with the help of the instructor, the participants will have 4 weeks to develop their projects. During this period they will be in constant dialogue with the instructor that will support them to translate their ideas into images. At the end of the course the participants will select the best pieces they have produced and organize a show. They will present their projects and accomplishments and there will be a time for critique.
Tuesdays 6:00-8:00 pm, starting on March 1, 2016. Fee: $90(12 hours).
There is a small material list for both courses, but basic materials such as paper, wood blocks, linoleum, ink and carving tools will be provided.
