The Consulate-General of Japan in Atlanta would like to present a new opportunity for schools offering Music classes. In this special edition of our School Caravan, students will have the chance to experience Japanese culture in the musical sphere!
In this Caravan workshop, specifically geared toward music students, our consulate staff will introduce and present on music and instruments traditionally used as accompaniment in Japanese festivals. Students will have a hands-on experience learning Japanese musical notation, tempo, and scales (as they differ from Western music) and then use this knowledge to perform, with staff guidance, a short piece of traditional festival music with the authentic Japanese flute (fuè), small taiko drums (shimè-daiko), and hand-bell (kanè).
