Global Festa JAPAN is one of the largest international cooperation events in Japan held for the purpose of deepening understanding and awareness of the current situation and the necessity of international cooperation. This event is co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC).
Stage programs will be streamed online in real-time, allowing participation and viewing from remote locations.
The event and all livestreams will be held in Japan’s timezone, so be sure to keep that in mind when you plan for events!

Atlanta Asian Film Festival is back! Come and enjoy an exciting lineup of films and documentaries by emerging film makers are scheduled for this year’s 2022 festival.
The movie Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy, directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, is a drama and romance film and was released in 2021. Join the three main female characters as they look back at the highs and lows of love, life, and how past choices can have a great impact on the future. The director is a two-time Oscar nominee and earned a total of eight awards from this film in various international festivals in the U.S., Europe, and Japan.

Asian Festival & Dragon Boat Race

Throughout this day long festival, expect dragon boat races that bring teams from the greater Charlotte region and several states together to compete along the banks of Lake Norman. Boats line up to launch from the shore of the lake to race for the finish, while onlookers get a close up of what it takes to win! The rhythm of the drum keeps the rowers on beat and after they finish, relax on the lawn while other teams prepare at the start line for another round. The adrenaline from the dragon boat teams and festival goers makes this event a favorite for all.
There’s also no better way to experience anything than with food. Numerous vendors are set up with various Asian countries being represented with favorite signature dishes. See some of the most talented performers on the stage during the Asian music and dance fest and experience heritage and tradition while meeting locals and visitors from all over!

The Annual Koi and Goldfirsh show has reached it’s 27th year! This event is a great place to meet others who share a love for Koi , Goldfish, and the ways to care for their homes. There will be vendors, judging, and awards banquet, and auction held over the course of two days. Many of these vendors will be selling koi, goldfish, plants, and pond decorations!

Although bonsai has gained popularity among plant hobbyists, it is still often considered difficult and unapproachable by many. However, with a basic skills foundation and understanding of the art form and medium, it doesn’t have to be! Perfect for beginners, this workshop will increase your confidence with bonsai and provide a hands-on opportunity for learning.
This two hour class begins with an art and cultural history tour of bonsai. Participants will then learn how to repot and wire a tree as well as practice bending and shaping techniques. The class concludes with a discussion about how to care for your tree once you get home.
Cost: $85 includes professional instruction + materials (ceramic pot, tree, soil).

AWA is the largest anime convention in the Southeast, with over 25,000 attendees in 2021.

The Aikido Association of America is proud to announce a seminar with Tatsuo Toyoda Sensei, President and Chief Instructor of the Aikido Association of America. Training is open to students of any martial art or rank, from any organization or dojo.
Tatsuo Toyoda, the current President and son of Aikido Association of America founder Fumio Toyoda Shihan and has been uchideshi under Y. Kobayashi Soshihan in Tokorozawa, Japan. Mr. Toyoda is the dojo cho of Tenshinkan Dojo in Chicago, Illinois and has taught extensively throughout the United States and world.
