Alabama Origami Workshop

Origami Tales: Japanese Storytelling and Origami Workshop for Kids

Yasu Ishida joins us again this summer for a virtual storytelling and origami workshop! Join us at the Library on Tuesday, July 6th at 10:00am or 5:00pm for a viewing party in the auditorium. Enjoy watching the show on the big screen with snacks and popcorn. Supplies for origami will also be available. No registration needed.

The Japan-America Society of Georgia presents an outdoor Japanese film screening of A Tale of Samurai Cooking – A True Love Story. The film takes place during the Edo Period of Japan, when an excellent cook marries the heir to a renowned cooking family. However, her husband is a terrible chef. With the help of her new mother-in-law, she begins to teach him the ways of the culinary arts.
Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to watch the movie outside underneath the stars or safely watch from the comfort of your own car staying socially distant from other attendees. Doors open at 7:30pm – come early to secure your spot.

JASG Japanese Classes
 
 
 
JASG’s Online Japanese Classes (Summer Session)
 
July 26, 2021 6:30pm – September 10, 2021 8:30pm
Online via Zoom 
These Japanese web-based classes will focus on communication skills needed in (virtual) business settings and environments as well as everyday conversation. The courses will also center on inter-cultural communication and integrating important Japanese business and cultural etiquettes. 

 

For new students with prior experience studying Japanese, a telephone interview can be arranged to determine the appropriate class level. The textbooks used for this course are Japanese for Busy People (JBP) and can be purchased at JASG or online and JLPT Levels N2 and N3, Somatome Reading Comprehension or Grammar (Advanced Classes) that can be purchased online. 

All classes will begin the week of July 26, 2021 and will continue for 8 weeks (two hours once a week). Final details will be confirmed once registration has been completed.
