“Arigatou!” from Jonathan!

Jonathan Brewster, the NC Japan Center’s Director for close to five years, will be stepping down to join the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (“EDPNC”) in April. The search for a new NCJC director will begin soon.
Jonathan joined NC State to back in 2018, moving to the Raleigh area from Tokyo, where he had worked for FUJITSU, Ltd. in the high-performance computing sector.
He had this to say about his time at the NCJC, and the next chapter in his working life: “NC State gave me an extraordinary opportunity to helm the NC Japan Center and help steer it back into a place of value for the community and state,” Brewster said. “With the help of our incredible Program Coordinator Reiko-san, our fantastic language instructors, all my colleagues at the Office of Global Engagement and NC State at large, as well as our wonderful Board and community members, we’ve done just that. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone, and I’m looking forward to my next challenge at the EDPNC and joining future events at the NCJC as a member of the community. The Japan Center will hold a special place in my heart, forever.”
